A Knitted Tea Cosy

As the weather has been so horrible in the U.K. lately, I decided to pass the time by knitting myself a new tea cosy.  If the bad weather continues, I should soon finish it!

How to make snaps for your children's clothes using a Prym Vario Pliers Tool

Something new to try if you haven't already.  I have to say I've had mixed success with these.  They don't always work. Be warned!  Try it a few times on a scrap piece of fabric before you do it on the garment you are making...

My Latest Project - The Georgina Dress

I recently bought some very pretty cotton material with pictures of Peter Rabbit on it - just right I thought, for my next project, which will be the Georgina dress from Frocks and Frolics. I love Peter Rabbit and I hope my newest little grand-daughter will too.

This dress is aimed at beginners and there is a lovely video to go with it. Marina steers you through from start to finish, making it so easy to follow and avoid mistakes before they happen.

Hopefully I will soon have a picture of my grand-daughter wearing the dress, to complete the sequence.

Happy sewing!

Vintage knitted baby dress

Thank

I love making these pretty little baby dresses in a vintage style. This time I made it in teal, but it can look good in other colours too. See the side panel for the pink version.

Finished project - a cover for my sewing machine.

My new sewing machine needed a cover because it didn’t come with one. I took the opportunity of using the variety of different stitches that exist on the new gem of a machine and I’m pleased with the result.  I particularly liked doing the smoke from the chimneys on the little houses and for that I used a curly stitch.  If you click on the picture you can make it bigger to see the detail.

The sewing machine is bigger at the base by quite a lot so I had to be careful with the measurements, but it came out just right in the end.

Learning to use my new Singer C440 sewing machine - How to use a blind hem foot.

I found this little tutorial on YouTube and it really is very good. Tried it out today, but didn't get it quite right. Practise makes perfect! I'll try again tomorrow.
