A patchwork apron

While I was in America recently, I was inspired to buy some pretty American style fabric. It's hard to quantify just what makes it look so American, apart from the obvious wording on it, of course.  It is something to do with the colours perhaps.  I'm not quite sure.  Anyway, these colours and patterns appealed to me so they went in the shopping cart.

When I got home I wasn't sure what to make with the pieces.  Then I thought 'why not an apron'.  There was just enough fabric and I knew I wouldn't have time to do a full quilt before I returned to England.

So here it is.  It's reversible.  On the back it is plain and a nice rich maroon colour, which I think blended very well with the flowery pattern on the front.

I have an abstract mind so one pattern wasn't enough.  I had to have two and make them as complicated and interesting as I could, in an abstract way.

Do you like it?

  1. That is very cute! I have an old quited apron (store bought) which I have been meaning to replace. I got fabric a long time ago, but health issues have gotten in my way for a while. I hope mine comes out as well as yours did! It's just lovely. Yes, it's got that American old west or Little House on the Prairie kind of look. Except the back, which is just all-out glamorous! Great job!
