A bluey, greeney sort of a mood.
Today, I am in a bluey, greeney sort of a mood so I thought I'd show you a little of my stache in that colour range.
The balls of wool above are by Wendy wools. I don't think they make this type of wool any more, which is a pity because it is nice to knit with and very easy to wash. It also tumbles well in the drier and doesn't turn to felt. I love a wool that tumbles well, don't you. I bought the wool from the internet.
Some of my wool lives here in a drawer. Needless to say, I have wool all over the place, but that doesn't mean that I know where to find it when I want a certain ball.
Here are some greeney cottons to enjoy.
and being a greeney, bluey post, I had to include my very special pin cushion.
Tomorrow I'll give you a peek at what I am going to make next. Can you guess?
Have a wonderful day.

Tea Cosy
Just finished this tea cosy for a dear friend over in England. I had some small pieces of material left over from making Peanut's baby quilt and using a book which I won on Char's Blog, I have made this cosy. Hope she likes it!
Have a great Memorial Weekend.

A very special pin cushion
This is a very special pin cushion that my son, Rob, made for me when he was just a small boy at school. I remember being amazed that he had made it all by himself (with a little help perhaps). I vowed to keep it forever and have so far... I do use it a lot.
The pin at bottom left is a nappy pin. This is one of many safety nappy pins that I used for him and his brothers. I don't even know if you can buy them like that anymore. Most people these days use disposable nappies, but in 1974 when Rob was born, most people used washable nappies and these were the pins to go with them.
Have you noticed how pins have been getting bigger lately? They seem enormous now compared to when our grandmothers were sewing...
Do you have a special pin cushion like mine that means a lot to you? If so, I'd like to hear about it.

'Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,'
Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
William Butler Yeats
Purple hues
This is my current project - a small jumper (sweater) to go under the romper suit I completed recently. Isn't the colour gorgeous?
It's knitted on size 12 (2.75) and 10 (3.25) needles, which is my favourite size for knitting.
Do you like to knit with this size needles? or do you prefer to knit with a larger needle?
Again, I am using sock wool from Jo-ann's store in Knoxville. I like this wool very much.

Pink baby dress
This pretty dress is knitted in 4 ply. 4 ply works very well for baby clothes. It is not too bulky and yet it has a lot of warmth in it.
The lacy pattern is not difficult to knit and looks very effective.
I knitted this one to fit a size 18 - 20 inch baby.
Detail of stitch below.

Multi-coloured jumper (sweater)
Knitted rompers
I made this romper suit using sock wool, purchased in an American store. It is not quite the same ply as we have in England, but it is the equivalent of 4 ply. The wool is designed for knitting socks and knits up in an attractive fair isle pattern without having to keep changing wool.
By knitting a larger garment, the pattern alters itself and interesting variations occur.
I have stitched a label in the back, explaining who made the garment. :) Click to enlarge the picture and you'll see what I mean.

Family Circle baby designs
This is the baby pattern book I shall be working from for the moment. There are lots of patterns in here and plenty to keep me going for a long while yet.
The patterns seem quite easy to follow and the colours are vibrant and up to date.

Matinee coat in white
A hand-knitted baby cardigan for my first grandchild, due in October 2010.
I don't know yet if the baby will be a boy or a girl so I am knitting for both/either. This
one is knitted from a very old pattern and has been knitted many times before. It is knitted in white 4 ply baby wool. It has a lace border round the neck and a pink ribbon at neck.
Knitted with love.

My sewing box
This sewing box used to belong to Larry's mum. It's quite small by today's standards, but just right to put beside me on the settee when I'm watching television, or just right to go beside the sewing machine on the desk in my sewing room.
I love the pink colour of it. It's very warm and friendly looking. I bought the pink scissors to go in it. They are very sharp, just right for cutting out patterns.
The pin cushion in green was made for me by my eldest son, Rob, when he was in school, many years ago. I treasure it.
